With Royal Ascot, reportedly the Queen’s favourite week of the year, kicking off tomorrow, the Duchess of Cambridge has stepped out giving us a taste of what we can expect to see trackside this year. Attending the annual Garter Day ceremony in Windsor, Kate Middleton wore an elegant coat dress by one of her favourite British designers, Catherine Walker.
Though the Queen and heirs to the throne are expected to wear traditional pomp gowns and feathered headpieces for the occasion, Kate managed to avoid the chaos, pairing the simple black and white design with a black Lock & Co hat, black clutch and dangling pearl earrings. The mother-of-three wore her hair in a tidy, low bun and opted to keep her nails bare and makeup look minimal.
Queen Letizia of Spain and her husband, King Felipe, joined the British royal family for the day, with Queen Letizia matching Kate’s colour palette with a high neck white dress with black polka dots and a black headband.
If this is the kind of fashion we’re getting before Royal Ascot has even begun, we can hardly wait for the races.
