It’s not often the effortlessly stylish Queen Letizia of Spain encounters a sartorial equal during her official duties, but she may have met her match in Argentina’s First Lady, Juliana Awada.
On March 25, 2019, the two women enjoyed an official visit, along with their husbands, at the Casa Rosada Presidential Palace in Buenos Aires.
Letizia donned a cream sheath dress from Spanish designer Pedro del Hierro, while Juliana donned a navy wrap dress covered in white polka dots, with both women igniting ardent admiration online for their immaculate styling.
Juliana, whose husband is President of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, has been First Lady of Argentina for four years, after President Macri took power in 2015.
But prior to her role as First Lady, Juliana was a force in her own right, gaining a reputation for business savvy by working for her family’s textile company, Awada. She was a key player in her husband’s election win, and their regular public displays of affection and openness about their marriage is popular fodder for Argentinian tabloids.
The 44-year-old, who is of Lebanese and Syrian descent, has two children, a daughter named Valentina from her previous marriage, and another daughter, Antonia, from her marriage to Macri.
With a background in fashion and a penchant for designer items, Awada’s fashion sense has been widely lauded alongside her accomplishments.
