Jason McCrohon ‘Pearl and Sapphire Ring’
An 18ct white gold diamond and south sea pearl and sapphire dress ring. The ring features one 13mm round white south sea pearl surrounded by 22 1.5mm round diamonds and 2 3mm square natural pink sapphires. “I wanted to showcase a beautiful pearl through the use of natural gemstones and fine craftsmanship”.
Nicolai Proesser ‘Autumn Ring’
18ct yellow gold fold formed bracelet and ring set with six 0.09ct diamonds along the textured bands. “ I was experimenting with fold forming and I wanted to combine my micro-pave ability with this technique. The hammered texture was a continuation of the fold forming technique I employed.”
Gerard Wollaston ‘Pagoda’
Tiered drop earrings reminiscent of Buddhist pagodas in scuffed 18ct yellow gold and platinum with emerald cabochons, natural burnt orange and white diamonds, and rose cut diamond windows onto secret enclosures. “ The earrings express the importance of creating spaces for thoughts and objects that are precious to us, to fill them, and to treasure them.”
Tyrus Shay ‘Velona’
An intricate mesh collar crafted from 22ct, 18ct 14ct rose, 9ct white, 18ct green, and 9ct rose gold accented with Argentium silver. The mesh is set with diamonds and blue-green Australian sapphires is various shapes and sizes. Made over 120 hours, Velona evokes the images of a secret grotto nestled on a pristine beach. “My motivation was to test the breadth of my skills and challenge the limit of precious metal. I wanted to create a beautiful piece which defied convention in its manufacturing process and design.”
Kosta Theochari ‘Dos Amigos’
A handmade 18ct rose gold and Platinum ring featuring two tension set 0.65ct Australian Argyle Diamonds with a sand blast finished band. “I wanted to create a unique piece of art which shows off the gorgeous Australian Argyle diamonds from all angles”.
Gregoire Vende ‘Arum’
A Platinum and 18ct yellow gold ring set with cognac diamonds, round brilliant cut diamonds and green diamonds. The ring was inspired by the Arum Lily. “I love flowers, especially the Arum. So, I thought that with my job and experiences it would be great to create something to reflect the beauty of nature.”
Jeremy Fleming ‘Daughters Inspiration’
A Platinum and 18ct rose gold ruby and diamond ring. Set with one heart shaped 3.15ct Ruby, pave set with white and black diamonds. “My daughters inspired me to create this piece for the JAA Jewellery Awards due to their love of the heart-shaped ruby stone.”
Alistair Kelsey ‘Rapture’
A 13.66ct Pink Tourmaline, 5.58ct Blue Zircon, and 4.75ct Amethyst ring set with blue, green and purple diamonds. Panels of colour dance around the finger, with beams of light reflecting from step cut facets. Made in 18ct white gold with a mixture of black and white rhodium to highlight the beauty of these precision cut gemstones. “My piece is inspired by the 80’s with geometric angular designs accented by sharp lines and block panels to match the step cuts of the stones.
Danny Lee of Danny Lee Designs ‘Red Sunset Over Golden Sun’
One natural Imperial Topaz weighing 4.03ct surrounded by 1.08ct of yellow diamonds in a radiating 18ct rose gold scalloped channel setting. Finished with a border of white diamonds equaling 0.50ct. “The inspiration of this piece was the red and orange hues of the incredible Australian outback”.
Roberto Mattei of Roberto Mattei ‘Contact’
An 18ct white and rose gold dress ring set with a central diamond suspended over a concave round surface. “This ring was made to attract attention. The unique, highly geometrical shape recalls the art of Anish Kapoor. The ring is similar to a satellite antenna that ‘needs ‘contact’.”
