We’ve all heard of and probably been fashion victims of the so-called Meghan Markle effect, which if you’ve been sleeping under a style rock is the sartorial impact the Duchess of Sussex has every time she steps out in any outfit. Every piece in each outfit causes such a fashion frenzy of demand, it invariably sells out immediately and crashes the brand in question’s website.
So far this effect has really only been seen in regular style circles with non-royal, non-celebrity fashionistas keen to dress just like a real life princess. However, it now looks like her royal style has spilled over into the A-list Hollywood set with actress Jennifer Garner spotted wearing the exact same classic navy blue Roland Mouret dress Markle wore on the day before her May wedding to Prince Harry.
Markle was photographed wearing the dress when she and her mother, Doria Ragland, were on their way into Cliveden House hotel, where the Duchess spent her wedding eve.
Garner had her twinning Markle moment this week while receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, however where Markle paired the dress with pale grey pumps, Garner wore hers with a pair of navy ankle-strap heels.
W reports that the 46-year-old’s ‘who wore it better’ moment might have been accidental, however the actress is apparently a big fan of the 37-year-old Duchess, so it also might have been accidentally on purpose. On the day of the royal wedding, Garner posted a pic of herself and 13 Going on 30 co-star Mark Ruffalo wearing their bride and groom costumes and captioned it, “Harry and Meghan, if you’re looking for stand-ins @markruffalo and I are just hangin’ around.”
