Unless you’re reading this draped in designer cashmere, an Hermes scarf wrapped around each wrist, Manolos on your feet and ears decorated with Tiffany diamonds, Meghan Markle’s outfit for her first royal Christmas cost more than yours. Sobering thought: her Christmas Day outfit possibly cost more than your entire wardrobe.

Not entirely surprising for a soon-to-be princess whose engagement portrait dress reportedly retails for $US75,000, Markle chose head-to-toe designer for the Christmas Day church service near Sandringham, Norfolk, which the royal family attends each year.
For what was her first royal Christmas and her first public appearance with the Duchess of Cambridge, Markle chose a camel Sentaler coat (a label from Markle’s native Canada), Chloe ‘Pixie’ suede crossbody bag, Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee suede boots, diamond drop earrings and a Philip Treacy hat.
The boots, coat and bag alone would set an Australian buyer back $5149 – and who knows how much what she’s wearing under the coat cost. Add the earrings, which are being widely reported as Birks ‘Snowflake’ diamonds (for a cool $US5995, or $AU7759) and the price of the entire outfit skyrockets to an eye-watering $AU12,908. And that’s before we factor in the hat.
If you, like us, have your eyes on the coat, good news: it was completely sold out but is now back to pre-order. For the record, Kate Middleton’s merry Christmas Day look was thanks to an also-now-sold-out Miu Miu peacoat.
