Gwyneth Paltrow Just Rewore Her Iconic 1996 Gucci Suit To The Designer’s Spring/Summer 2022 Show

You wouldn't know more than 20 years have passed.

The Gucci gang has landed in Los Angeles, and brought with them the enviable style that the luxury Italian house is renowned for.

Taking over LA’s infamous Hollywood Boulevard, home to the Walk of Fame and historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre (you might have heard of it), Creative Director Alessandro Michele took to the City of Angels for his Spring/Summer 2022 collection, and brought his famous friends along for the ride.

However it was Gwyneth Paltrow’s custom suit that stole the show (and our hearts).

No, you’re not seeing double, Paltrow really did wear her iconic 1996 Gucci by Tom Ford velvet burgundy suit to the show. You know the one.

First appearing on Ford’s Fall ’96 runway, the suit rose to prominence after Paltrow donned the ensemble at the MTV VMA Awards later that year. The look became instantly iconic and has been lauded as one of Ford’s most timeless and respected creations. Trust us, that’s a high bar.

Michele recontextualized the tuxedo in his Resort 2022 collection, not without a few modern tweaks for the contemporary age. Michele’s sensual take saw the suit worn unbuttoned, with an exposed shirt styled underneath exposing the models midriff area.

Other changes include a leather harness choker replacing Ford’s cravat and matching leather heels.

This collection was highly regarded by the industry due to their collaboration with Balenciaga, with Michele further reinventing fashion classics, this time from Gvasalia’s archives.

We honestly thought this look couldn’t be reinterpreted any more. That was until Paltrow showed up at the show rocking the famed ensemble.

We’d forgive you for thinking that this is a doppelgänger, maybe Paltrow’s 17-year-old daughter Apple, or even an overzealous fan trying to sneak their way into the front row, but at a closer look we were happily mistaken.

Given the 25 year gap between when Paltrow last wore the suit and now, we can say with all sincerity that Paltrow hasn’t aged a day. We’ll take what she’s having.

The 49-year-old actress and Goop founder was spotted talking to fellow Gucci inspiration Dakota Johnson following the star-studded show.

Other notable attendees include Jarod Leto and Macaulay Culkin who both made a surprise appearance walking in the Gucci runway.
