Prepare To Explore The Great Outdoors With Gucci x The North Face’s New Collaboration

Haute couture meets the outdoors

Admittedly, camping isn’t usually on our wishlist of holiday activities, but the latest collaboration between Gucci and The North Face will have you packing your bags sooner than you can say road trip.

Exploring the “spirit of exploration”, the new collection marks the Italian fashion house’s first collaboration with another brand under creative director Alessandro Michele and features ready-to-wear, soft accessories, luggage and shoes, as well as some more unexpected pieces linked to the outdoor world of The North Face, including tents and sleeping bags.

Michele combined his eclectic ’70s aesthetic with pieces from The North Face’s archives to serve as inspiration for the designs, which include puffer jackets, goose down skirts and jumpsuits in vintage silhouettes, all with a floral motif weaved throughout. Additionally, archival fabrics have been incorporated into the collection to give them new life and a modern edge.

It’s not only the creative forces of the iconic brands that came together in the new collaboration, but the blending of the two famous logos. The North Face has adapted its quarter-circle stamp, which pays homage to the famous granite Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, to include Gucci’s green-red-green stripe.

One such item expected to fly off shelves is a pair of gender-neutral hiking boots, complete with contrast braided laces in Gucci’s signature red and green and a sturdy Goodyear-welted sole—a staple of the outdoor label.

The collection also extends to the two brands’ joint sustainability efforts. Gucci launched its first sustainable collection earlier this year with Off the Grid, and The North Face actively takes steps to be socially and environmentally responsible. This collaboration continues that path with luggage made from ECONYL®—a nylon fabric sourced from regenerated materials and packaging made from sustainably managed forest sources.

The collaboration’s commitment to sustainability also includes its vibrant pink packaging. The garment and carrier bags, boxes and pouches have been strategically designed to reduce the environmental impact at every step of creation, with all paper and cardboard coming from sustainably managed forest sources and an uncoated paper has been used to ensure it is fully recyclable.
