It’s been hard to escape Gucci’s logo tee. What started as a blogger must-have has filtered to the streets of Bondi – and is no doubt flooding your Instagram feed.
The fashion world has been toying with throwback branding for a few seasons now (see: Tommy Hilfiger, Vetements). So why is everyone obsessed with this one piece?
“They’re not exactly affordable, but it’s about entry-level luxury,” says marie claire market editor Tara Morris. “Gucci has been the brand to be seen in since Alessandro Michele became creative director a few years ago, and a T-shirt is just about the cheapest way to buy in. It’s also the most obvious way to associate yourself with the label, which of course is a big part of the appeal.”
