The first award show of the decade has officially kicked off! The 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards are underway at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, with some of Hollywood’s biggest names in attendance.
Tonight’s Golden Globe winners, apart from being the first winners of the new decade, are always our first glimpse at who we can expect to win big at the Oscars in February and this year, a lot of our favourites could be taking to the stage at both prestigious awards ceremonies. From Margot Robbie getting a Best Supporting Actress nod for her role in Bombshell – her second Golden Globe nomination ever – to everyone’s favourite woman Jennifer Aniston topping off her best year yet with a nod for her portrayal of a news anchor in The Morning Show (yes, her co-star Reese Witherspoon naturally got one too), to Meryl Streep beating her own record for the most Golden Globe nominations ever at 34.
Notably, no female directors were nominated in the Best Director category, despite Natalie Portman loudly declaring “here are the all-male nominees” at the 2018 Golden Globes and women-directed films, such as Hustlers, Booksmart and Little Women, being nominated in other categories.
Below, the best (and glitziest) red carpet arrivals from the 2020 Golden Globes.
