For his Autumn Winter 2024 runway, Giorgio Armani took us on a walk through a winter’s garden.
The collection – aptly titled ‘Winter Flowers’ – mused on the hopeful beauty of a flower in bloom. Or, as the show notes put it, “flowers that bloom even in the depths of winter [are the ultimate symbols of] beauty and regrowth.”
While a floral motif might not seem like the obvious choice for the cooler months, there was no shortage of this natural elegance and appeal amid the inky blues, nocturnal blacks, and dark greens of the collection.
The textures also heralded the beauty of a delicate flower, with shimmering velvet, liquid satin, and luxurious silks set against soft wool boucle and delicate embroidery.
The elegance was perfectly embodied by the cast of models, who smiled softly as they took to the simple runway set. Leading the pack was Gina di Bernardo, who fronted the brand in the 80s and 90s, and whose timeless beauty effortlessly personifies the elegance of a flower in bloom.
