It’s no secret that fashion girls everywhere are obsessed with French women’s style. From their minimal makeup look, to their effortlessly chic wardrobe, the French can seriously do no wrong.
So, of course, when we’re offered an insight into how said French woman shops, we stop, look, listen and take note.
Online luxury retailer Vestiaire Collective has released research showing the timeless items French women can’t get enough of, and the trends they’re investing in this year.
At the top of the list, the Hermès Carre silk scarf (naturally).
And, of course, the Chanel ‘Timeless’ bag.
Trends that are currently being shopped by these European babes are: vintage straight legged (as opposed to skinny) Levi’s jeans, basket bags, and slogan tees.
“The basket, like the idea behind the Balenciaga Bazaar is the ultimate anti-bag, Marie Blanchet, Head of Vintage at Vestairie Collective explains to Marie Claire UK.
“French girls don’t obsess over IT-bags too much. I’m not surprised this has caught on as a global summer trend.”
“Taking inspiration from Jane Birkin’s iconic 70s look, a French girl will run around the city with a basket, take it to the beach or juxtapose an evening look like a silk YSL jumpsuit for example.”
The study also noted that the colour red is being searched 120% more this year than last. Au revoir, monochrome!
