Twenty years on from one of its most iconic collaborations, Louis Vuitton is launching the re-edition of its Takashi Murakami collection.
An icon of the early 2000s, the original Louis Vuitton X Takashi Murakami collaboration, initiated by the House’s artistic director of the time, Marc Jacobs, was an era-defining collection for the Maison and fashion-subscribers alike. Louis Vuitton X Murakami will once again bring together the French fashion house’s creativity, innovation, and savoir-faire with the renowned Japanese artist’s joyful and imaginative aesthetic.
Murakami’s works became internationally acclaimed for blending traditional Japanese art, sci fi, anime and whimsical kawaii characters through repetitive motifs in mediums of film, painting, and sculpture, the distinctive style of which was creatively reflected in his work with Louis Vuitton.
The latest 200-piece collection will serve as a modern-day showcase “defined by artist vision, remarkable feats of traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology” that will see a newfound vividness and elevated precision of each of Murakami’s characters and motifs.
Highlights of the collection include the Monogram Multicolore, interlocking LV and floral motif in 33 different colours rendered more resplendent than ever on iconic bag silhouettes including the Keepall, the Coussin, the Dauphine, the OnTheGo and the Speedy.
For accessory lovers, belts, wallets, keyrings, sneakers, and wedge espadrilles will also feature in the collection and then, there’s the extensive assortment of stunning Capucines bags and the majestic Courrier Lozine 110 Fleurs trunk.
Louis Vuitton X Murakami will be available to order worldwide from January 1st, 2025.
