‘Emily In Paris’ Is Coming In Haute With This Local Balinese-Based Label

Magali Pascal’s show-stopping dress will have you coming back for amour.

Emily In Paris is the fashion-forward European summer escapist series that single handedly kept our serotonin levels high during the depths of lockdown.

Now, the iconic show returns for a highly-anticipated second series and our appetite for Lily Collin’s enviable style as the titular character is insatiable.

Fortunately, the legendary costume designer Patricia Field—best known as the mastermind behind some of Carrie Bradshaw’s most memorable looks—has dialed up Emily’s kitschy-American take on French couture to new heights, and even brought an local designer’s dress to the silver screen.

Irrefutably the highlight of the film’s trailers and first-looks, French designer Magali Pascal, who made her start in Bali, has created the quintessential ‘Emily In Paris’ dress, and luckily for us it’s coming in haute.

Pascal’s Botanical dress, as worn by Collins in the show’s promotional posters, has already sold out numerous times, but is being revived in celebration of the upcoming second season.

If you’re anything like us, you’ll be adding your name to the waiting list quicker than you can say “et voila” and donning the dress to watch the first episode.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the dress and its fit for Emily, designer Magali Pascal says the Botanic Dress was part of “our Spring/Summer 2021 collection, a season of bold styles designed to escape the barriers imposed by lockdown.

“The exaggerated ruffles, the open back, and the high-low skirt were an expression of celebration, returning to finding joy in dressing again,” designer Magali Pascal told marie claire. “As a strong-headed woman that goes after what she wants, Emily’s character embodies the Magali Pascal woman. She is bold, playful, brave, but it is her independence that really resonates with the brand.”

This statement piece will take you from the shores of Sydney to the light-drenched sand of Saint-Tropez, and while the dance floors of the French Riviera may be a pipe dream (for now), we’ll be giving this beauty it’s time in the sun in no time.
