Elizabeth Hurley’s teenage son, Damian Hurley, is making waves in the fashion world right now. Last year, he made his modelling debut as the face of Pat McGrath’s new foundation range and now he’s recreated his famous mum’s most iconic look, 25 years after she wore it on the red carpet.
While visiting the Selfridges London Pat McGrath flagship counter, the 17-year-old wore a black Versace suit with gold safety pins down the side, paying homage to the black dress his mum wore to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994, which she attended with then-boyfriend Hugh Grant.
Though the original dress has gone down in history as one of the most iconic red carpet moments of all time, back then Hurley had no idea of the impact it would have.
“I urgently needed to find a dress to wear for Hugh’s premiere, and in those days I had no idea about fashion,” she previously told Harper’s Bazaar. “I remember going to an office where they literally fished a dress out of a white plastic bag.”
She also previously revealed the dress was given to her as a favour from Versace because she couldn’t afford to buy a gown for the night. “I couldn’t afford to buy one,” she said. “Hugh’s people told me they didn’t have any evening wear, but there was one item left in their press office. So I tried it on and that was it.”
