Just when we thought the sports-luxe trend couldn’t get any sexier, the grand dame of modern feminist fashion Maria Grazia Chiuri has delivered a new lust-have bag line that’s an ode to the divine.
Unveiled as part of her Greek-goddess-inspired Cruise 2022 show, the Dior Vibe bag collection is cousin to the now-cult Dior Vibe sneakers that were unveiled last season. In fact, the rubber base on the bowling-bag style Weekender mirrors the rubber base embossed with stars on the soles of the shoes. Ditto the Dior Vibe Hobo, which is as street-chic as it is practical with its myriad hidden pockets and handy shoulder strap duo.
“Sport has played a great role in the emancipation of women,” noted creative director Chiuri after the show. “I think we need to remember that women have had to fight to play their favourite sports… [and] that fight still goes on today.”
The notion that movement is freedom currently runs strong in the luxury fashion house, and has also resulted in a limited-edition collaboration with elite sports equipment brand Technogym (Dior logo treadmill, anyone?).
As for the Dior Vibe line, get ready to see more extensions of this modern classic, starting with the Weekender-slash-gym-bag iteration in the house’s signature black and white.
Thankfully, you don’t need to be an Olympian to embrace your inner goddess. Movement is freedom, and who doesn’t want more of that in 2022?
Lucky for us, Dior’s new e-boutique is just a click away…
