French fashion house Dior has unveiled its first Australian Ambassador for Fashion, Alycia Debnam-Carey.
Dior has a long history of influential ambassadorships, from Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence to fashion icons like Carla Bruni. They have famously worked with another Australian, Charlize Theron, as the face of the J’adore Dior perfume range.
Now, however, they’ve chosen an Australian to sit as their ambassador for fashion locally.
So, who is Alycia Debnam-Carey?
Alycia Debnam-Carey is an actress and emerging figure in the arts world. She starred as the female lead in Fear Of The Walking Dead, and has most recently appeared as the lead role in series Saint X, which was shown on Hulu and the ABC.
She also recently collaborated with cinema icon Sigourney Weaver on the project The Lost Flowers Of Alice Hart, alongside a few well-known Australian names such as actress Asher Keddie (Offspring), actress Leah Purcell (Wentworth) and actor Charlie Vickers (Medici).
She also gained critical acclaim for her role as Lexa on television series The 100, a dystopian post-apocalyptic series based on the eponymous novel by Kass Morgan.
Debnam-Carey was runner up to the 2012 Heath Ledger Scholarship touting Australia’s new young talent and has completed many shorts in Australia. She was previously named one of the “Actors to Watch” from the Australians in Film trade magazine.
While the starlet is known for her acting prowess on the screen, she is also boasts three million followers and is a verified ‘fashion girlie’.
The actress recently travelled through Europe, stopping off at all of the iconic spots – Paris, Rome, Capri – and of course, the Dior spring/summer 2024 show, which Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri held in the Jardin des Tuileries.
According to Dior, Debnam-Carey was chosen as she “embodies the spirit and elegance of Dior style, femininity in constant reinvention.”

Alycia Debnam-Carey’s official title will be the ambassador for Dior fashion and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s collections – exclusively in Australia.
