Demi Moore is no stranger to the runway, having expertly graced Rihanna’s Fenty show last year in the brand’s signature lingerie. It seems the actress wasn’t quite done with the world of high-fashion, opening the show this week at Kim Jones’ debut Haute Couture collection for Fendi in Paris, staged at the Palais Brongniart within a spectacular maze-like set of perspex walls.
The occasion marked the luxury house’s first foray in a Spring/Summer 2021 couture presentation—with Fendi having previously only presented in the Fall/Winter.
To start the show, Moore wore a billowing off-the-shoulder satin blazer with bell sleeves and matching wide-leg pants, while her signature black tresses were pulled back into a low ponytail to show off a pair of opulent, waist-length earrings made from sculptural, Victorian-inspired shapes.
For the runway show, Jones, who succeeds Karl Lagerfeld as the artistic director of the Italian fashion house, drew inspiration from his childhood travels—he has lived in Africa and the United Kingdom—and the Bloomsbury Set to create his designs, as well as Virginia Woolf’s Orlando.
Moore was in stylish company, joined by iconic ’90s supermodels Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington, alongside other familiar faces such as Bella Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Adwoa Aboah. Jones also extended the runway invitation to Moss’ daughter Lila Grace and Turlington’s nephew James, who both graced his designs.
While some might be surprised by Moore’s appearance, it seems she and Jones have struck up a friendship of late. In 2019, the star appeared in a book of portraits shot by Nikolai von Bismarck for Dior, wearing a suit designed by Jones in his other role as artistic director of menswear at the French fashion house.
