Massimo Feretti, the head of Moschinoโ€™s parent company, Aeffe, took to social media to confirm Renneโ€™s sudden passing on November 10 from a reported heart attack.

โ€œThere are no words to describe the pain we are experiencing at this dramatic time. Davide joined us only a few days ago, when a sudden illness took him from us too soon. We still canโ€™t believe what happened,โ€ Ferretti wrote.

He continued: โ€œWith Davide, we were working on an ambitious project, in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and optimism for the future. Even though he was only with us for a very short time, Davide was able to immediately make himself loved and respected. Today we are left with the responsibility of carrying on what his imagination and creativity had only envisioned. Our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends.โ€

Renne started his role as the new creative head of Moschino womenswear only nine days ago, on November 1, 2023.

Renne took over the post from Jeremy Scott, who had served the brand for 10 years. Renne, meanwhile, joined from Gucci, where he shaped the brand in one of its most iconic eras.

Upon Renneโ€™s appointment to Moschino, Feretti made a point of noting his kindness.

โ€œGetting to know Davide I have been struck not only by his obvious talent but by his kindness, his sensibility,โ€ he wrote on Instagram alongside the announcement.

In turn, Renne called Feretti โ€œfatherlyโ€ in their encounters, and thanked him for โ€œgiving him the keysโ€ to the brand.

โ€œFranco Moschino had a nickname for his design studio: la sala giochi โ€“ the playroom. This resonates deeply with me: what fashion โ€“ Italian fashion especially, and the House of Moschino most of all, can achieve with its enormous power, should be accomplished with a sense of play, of joy. A sense of discovery, and experimentationโ€ Renne wrote in a statement.

โ€œI am very conscious of the honour that Mr. Ferretti โ€“ a gentleman who has been almost fatherly in his ability to listen and establish a dialogue during our encounters โ€“ has bestowed upon me in taking charge of the House founded by one of fashionโ€™s great minds. So, thank you Mr. Ferretti for giving me the keys to your playroom. I canโ€™t wait to begin โ€“ weโ€™ll have fun. Together.โ€

A public service was held by Renneโ€™s family in Milan on November 12, 2023.
