It’s the question we all ask ourselves whenever a big event is looming: ‘What on earth am I going to wear?’ For years, fashion rentals have provided the answer to that question, becoming the easy, money-saving way to ensure you’re never left without a killer gown.
Entering that space for the first time, David Jones has announced its partnership with GlamCorner, providing shoppers with a one-stop destination for sustainable shopping.
As part of the retail giant’s Good Business Journey, the new service is about taking an important step towards a circular fashion economy by increasing the lifespan and reducing the volume of clothing purchased for one-off occasions, while also introducing a new way for customers to access designer clothing.
Available online and instore at David Jones’ iconic Elizabeth Street flagship, customers can visit the Rent Now pop-up destination and choose their look with assistance from a stylist.
The lineup of pieces will come from the retailer’s impressive inventory of international and Australian designers, including Aje, Acler, Bec + Bridge, Camilla and Marc and GANNI, covering everything from event dressing and workwear to leisurewear and casual looks.
“As part of our continued commitment to retail innovation, we’re proud to expand our fashion offering to include a rental option for customers with GlamCorner,” says Bridget Veals, David Jones General Manager of Womenswear. “The rental service not only reduces our environmental impact by extending the lifespan of clothing and contributing to a circular fashion economy, but it also provides an opportunity to introduce new customers to designer brands that they may not have been previously able to access.”
Eloise Bishop, David Jones’ Head of Sustainability, added, “We are committed to reducing our environmental impact throughout our business operations and supply chain at David Jones and embedding our Good Business Journey throughout all endeavours continues to remain one of our key strategic focus areas.”
