If You Haven’t Already, Get To Know ‘Dad’ Sandals

Hello, new friend

Remember when everyone was prancing around in flatforms? Well, the flatform is back — sort of. Following on from a year of chunky, ugly sneakers, the fashion word on the street is this: keep the chunk, but make it into a sandal.

Taking inspiration from the original Teva, brands like Prada, Gucci and Dries Van Noten are getting in on the oversized sandal trend, putting out their own versions of the all-weather, off road shoe.

Worn best with pretty dresses or unexpected flowing shapes, the ugly sneaker is the perfect antidote to a too-pretty outfit. And, with winter coming in strong, they can be paired with a pair of statement tube socks for a seriously ugly/throwback look. Don’t believe us? Miuccia Prada isn’t often wrong, ladies.

So, whether it’s the thick strap or the supportive arch that catches your attention, there’s a dad sandal for everyone.
