Coach’s Fall 2021 Collection Wants You To Be Comfortable

'Coach TV' broadcast all your favourite friends modelling the new fashion.

The Coach Fall 2021 collection, Coach Forever Season Two, again brought together the faces defining the current moment and urged us to live – and dress – for right now.

In an attempt to mirror the mood of our times (i.e. being stuck inside binge watching Bridgerton), the presentation was broadcast via “Coach TV” on social channels, with various models, actors, musicians and influencers from around the world modelling the lookbook in shots captured by Juergen Teller. Paloma Elsesser, Kaia Gerber, Hari Nef, Rickey Thompson, Megan Thee Stallion and JLO were amongst the names making up the ‘Coach Family’ featured in the collection. Having such an eclectic range of faces included, there’s the sense that Creative Director Stuart Vevers doesn’t want to merely rely on the clothes to communicate his message of community and responsibility; he wants the people modelling them to embody those values, too.

The presentation conjured comfort, driven by a vision of “mixing past, present and future together in one moment to speak to real-life dressing and a more responsible approach.” Being stuck indoors isn’t an entirely grim reality according to Coach, with plush shearling coats, socks worn under sandals, leather jackets created in collaboration with outerwear brand Schott NYC and literal creatures of comfort embroidered onto accessories. Here, fashion should be lived-in, and an authentic vehicle for self-expression.

The presentation also paid homage to American television through pre-show vignettes written and directed by Frances Frances. “I have always loved exploring the intersection of fashion and pop culture at Coach,” Vevers said in the show notes.

“I am excited to bring my latest vision for the house to life via ‘Coach TV.’I wanted both the collection and the presentation to make sense and resonate in these unique times and I am excited to share both in a way that I hope will entertain and inspire.”
