Paris is always a good idea, but particularly so during Haute Couture Week when designers, celebrities and fashion industry greats all descend upon the city of lights.
The SS/23 iteration has been defined by a certain creative spark that seems to have taken hold of those both on and off the runway.
Viktor and Rolf’s models strutted down the runway in a collection of avant-garde upside down gowns while Schiaparelli divided the internet with their Dante-inspired animal head looks.
We also saw Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri pay homage to jazz age icon Josephine Baker, were dazzled by Indian designer Rahul Mishra’s ethereal feathered collection and couldn’t take our eyes off French designer Stéphane Rolland’s golden finale gown.
But the runway is only half the fun.
Haute Couture Week’s attendees certainly don’t hold back when it comes to their own sartorial choices. For the fashion community, it’s an opportunity to wear their biggest, boldest and most creative looks.
From Kylie Jenner donning the same Schiaparelli dress that Irina Shayk modelled on the runway to Doja Cat’s commitment to the Swarovski crystal and Apple Martin’s fashion week debut, it seems that at the SS/23 Haute Couture Week, celebrities have stolen the show.
Below, the very best celebrity looks from the front row of Paris Haute Couture Week that are worthy of a spot on the runway themselves
The Best Front Row Haute Couture Looks From Spring Haute Couture Week
Kylie Jenner channeled Madonna at the Jean Paul Gaultier show, when she modelled the ice blue version of the Gaultier cone bra. The bra was originally designed for Madonna’s Blonde Ambition tour in 1990. Jenner styled the famous bra with a pink centre corset and a black skirt.
Another celebrity attendee at Jean Paul Gaultier’s Haute Couture showing was Timothee Chalamet, who almost exclusively wears Haider Ackerman designs on the red carpet. Since Gaultier’s latest collection was a collaboration with Ackerman, it was only fitting that Chalamet donned a custom designed silk Ackerman jacket with sequined pants.
Anya Taylor-Joy attended the Christian Dior Haute Couture Show in a corseted waistcoat with a deep plunging neckline. The actress paired the statement corset with a silk cropped jacket, high-waisted black midi skirt, knee-high leather boots and a pair of cream cat eye glasses.
Dior ambassador Elizabeth Debicki attended Dior’s Haute Couture Show with her sister Catherine Debicki, who was quickly noticed for her effortlessly cool girl look. The pair were clearly the best dressed sister duo in the building.
In a stunning leopard-print minidress, leggings and stilletos, Anne Hathaway stole the show at Valentino Haute Couture. The star attended the show with her husband Adam Shulman who, despite looking stylish in his long gray coat, couldn’t compete with Hathaway’s incredible look.
Noah Cyrus rocked Haute Couture Street style in a very Wednesday Adams-inspired look when she was spotted in a black pleated see-through dress outside Alexandre Vauthier.
Dove Cameron attended Valentino Haute Couture in a deep red floor-length button-down shirt dress and seven inch platform heels.
No one will be forgetting Kylie Jenner’s Schiaparelli look anytime soon. Jenner donned the same black velvet dress (accessorised with a lifelike but fake lion head) that Irina Shayk wore on the red carpet.
Doja Cat has modelled some seriously incredible looks for Spring Haute Couture Week but none compare to her Schiaparelli one. Adorned with 30,000 Swarovski crystals, the rapper looked almost unrecognisable outside of the show.
Apple Martin made her fashion week debut at Chanel’s SS/23 Haute Couture fashion show in a perfectly polished greyscale tweed cardigan, skirt set and black loafers.
