When model Cara Delevingne broke every royal protocol by showing up to Princess Eugenie’s wedding in a suit, people couldn’t help but be impressed by the apparent boldness.
Traditional wedding guests of a royal wedding are encouraged to wear a modest day dress and hat, but the rule-breaking model chose a three-piece suit, complete with tails, a top hat and a toothpick.
But it turns out that Delevingne is a close childhood friend of the royal bride and had asked for her friend’s permission before she wore the outfit.
The Suicide Squad actress told Grazia magazine, “Eugenie has been a friend of mine since I was a kid and I’ve always wanted to wear tails, I texted her, as I wasn’t sure about it and she was like: Of course, I expected nothing else from you!”
Although Cara’s choice of attire neither phased nor surprised the bride, she joked about wedding guests reaction to her outfit and pointed out that a suit felt more natural to her than wearing a dress, “I found it interesting how many people came up to me and said: ‘You’re so brave to wear that!’ I was like, really? I feel way more comfortable like this.”
Never change Cara.
