French Model Camille Rowe Loves The 70s So Much She Designed A Whole Collection Around It

She takes marie claire behind the scenes of the fashion collab.

The elevated aesthetic of French girl dressing has served the fashion set for years, Camille Rowe has helped see to that. So when the Parisian model recently had the chance to curate an entire collection of clothing to her liking, trust was in abundance.

Now, 31-year-old Rowe has launched the collection in collaboration with Californian label RVCA with an inventory including tops, jackets and even jeans. While there’s a resounding element of LA-cool merged with French girl-chic about it, the collection’s overriding theme looks back to another time—the 70s.

Speaking to marie claire Australia about the launch, Rowe revealed the fashions of the decade were a key-feat in bringing the collaboration to life.

“I have always been naturally drawn to that era,” she tells us, “My family is really into vintage, we grew up shopping that era… especially with my father”.

She’s not wrong—there’s no denying the vintage charm emulating from the collection, which features a mix of textures, prints and muted hues.

“The colour palette of that era is my favourite,” Rowe adds, “Those warm earthy tones. My favourite style born from the 70s has to be oversized glasses”.

Out of any of the Camille x RVCA designs (which you can view here), Camille rates the Paradis Coat as her favourite.

“It is the epitome of quintessential Parisian style meets California cool, designed to work into your wardrobe year-round,” she tells us, adding that the addition of corduroy flares and shorts in the collection were inspired by 1970s roller girls.

It’s no wonder the clothing collaboration is rife with that vintage feel. Rowe herself admits to us that the two items of clothing in her wardrobe she could never, ever live with out are vintage jeans and a plain white tee. Simple 70s sophistication at its finest.

As for her current must-haves, Camille has spent the last few months soaking up the summer in the northern hemisphere. Lucky for us, that means we have an instant reference for our own summer wardrobes to come.

So what trends are going to make it to the seaside Australia this summer? Silk cover ups, Rowe asserts.

“The cover-up, plus a little two-piece bikini and a men’s button-down shirt makes the perfect seaside ensemble,” she adds.

Sign us up—no doubt we could all use a little wardrobe refresh after a winter (mostly) spent indoors.
