It looks like those home videos have paid off: Overnight the Queen of Pop Britney Spears was announced as the face of Kenzo’s new Nostalgia campaign.
Unbelievably, this marks the first time Spears has fronted a fashion house, despite being one of the most famous women in the music scene for two decades. So many missed opportunities!
Released overnight, the campaign shows the singer in playful prints, denim thigh-high boots and crop tops.
But don’t expect her new gig to tempt Britney back into her iconic ’90s style in real life: the 36-year-old says that since becoming a mum she watches her fashion choices for fear of embarrassing her sons, Sean and Jayden.
“It’s tricky because as a mother, you don’t take as much risk with your style,” she told Vogue US. “I think when I was younger I took so many risks and really went for it. There was no planning what I wore and it was like, okay, I am just going to put on the most outrageous thing. I think as a mother you hold back from that out of fear of embarrassing your kids and out of respect for them.”
At least we’ll always have these makeshift runway videos.
