Spring is in the air and with it, the allure of dresses, sandals and short hemlines. While we watch the upcoming trends of the season play out in real-time at fashion month (currently we’re in Milan), we’ve also got one tab open for online shopping – because it’d be rude not to buy some new clothes to match the new season, right?
To help you find your new go-to items for Australia’s upcoming spring and summer, we’ve rounded up 5 brands we’re currently coveting. Ciao for now, coats.
1. Rixo
Nothing says spring more than London-based brand Rixo, with bright colours, mismatched prints and flowing dresses making up almost the entirety of its new collection. Debuted at London Fashion Week last week, the range (which is available to shop now) has more than a few pieces we’re betting will soon be next season’s cult items.
In our shopping cart: The Tina skirt, Zadie dress and Jasper scrunchie.
2. Matteau
Australian brand Matteau has a way of creating clothes that look simple and effortless, while somehow being the most flattering pieces in existence (written by someone wearing their Tiered Sundress on the couch right now – I’m not joking, I’m always wearing Matteau). Do yourself a favour and invest, I promise with the cost per wear, you’re basically making money – just don’t tell your accountant that.
In our shopping cart: The Gathered Skirt, the Gathered Plunge Dress and the Square Crop Top.
3. Nelson Made
We’re calling it: the best part about summer is wearing sandals all day, every day. And the best part about the strappy sandal trend is that you can dress them up for work, paired with pants or a long black dress and a blazer, or throw them on for the beach. Our current go-to brand? Melbourne-based label Nelson Made.
In our shopping cart: The Roberta sandals, the Juliette sandals and the Sonia sandals.
4. Marle
New Zealand-based label Marle first caught our attention for its oversized woollen jumpers that our fashion editors would wear all winter long. But its spring collection, filled with linen day dresses and ribbed tank tops is everything we want to wear all season long.
In our shopping cart: Dillon dress, Louis tee and Pepper shorts.
5. Esse Studios
New Australian label Esse Studios is already making waves for its sustainable production model – seasonless slow-release capsule collections, made to build on each other – and its timeless designs. Someone call Meghan Markle because we’ve found the shirt dress of her dreams.
In our shopping cart: The Silk Dress, The Shirt Dress and the Ochre Jersey Dress.
