Like Many Other Male Celebs, Brad Pitt Wore A Skirt On The Red Carpet & He Looked Great

It's a whole heatwave vibe.

Brad Pitt is at a point in his career where anything even slightly off-piste he does will garner international media attention. But his choosing to wear a skirt on the red carpet this week shouldn’t really fall into that category.

Alas, when he stepped out for the Berlin premiere of his new film, Bullet Train, Pitt drew eyeballs far and wide due to his outfit, which consisted a brown linen jacket, a salmon coloured shirt and a linen skirt.

In 2022, you would hope society would understand that clothing in all its forms shouldn’t be gendered, but the headlines were rife with discussion about Pitt’s skirt. To cement the above point further, this isn’t even the first time Pitt has worn a skirt publicly. In 1999, he posed for Rolling Stone magazine in a series of photos wearing a dress. Just like he did in the skirt this week, he looked great.

Like many people in this world, Brad Pitt isn’t exclusively attached to trousers or shorts—and fair enough, that’s that.

Pitt’s skirt was also an understandable choice given Berlin is bearing the brunt of an extreme heatwave making its way across Europe. On the day of the premiere, the mercury hit 35 degrees—if that’s not summer dress or skirt weather we don’t know what is.

Pitt joins a number of other male-identifying actors who’ve worn skirts on the red carpet. Earlier this year, Oscar Isaac opted for a grey pleated style at the Moon Knight premiere. Pete Davidson and Jared Leto have also opted for the breezy silhouette at the Met Gala.

Of course, there’s a legion of queer celebrities including Billy Porter, Lil Nas X and Marc Jacobs who’ve worn numerous skirts on the red carpet and beyond—and they looked incredible every time.

Here’s hoping perspectives around celebrities choosing to wear skirts on the red carpet becomes less and less surprising—in 2022, it’s overdue.

Pitt is in the thick of press rounds for Bullet Train, joining his co-stars Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Karen Fukuhara, Zazie Beetz and many more for the premiere across major cities.

The film’s plot follows five assassins who cross paths on a bullet train moving from Tokyo to Morioka. On it, they discover that their missions are not unrelated to each other.
