There’s no denying that Bottega Veneta has mastered the art of creating an ‘It’-bag.
Given the title of breakout brand of 2019, creative director Daniel Lee’s leadership of the Italian maison has been responsible for creating some of the most coveted accessories in recent years, and not even 2020’s tumultuous trajectory has kept it from producing yet another cult favourite.
Enter: The Fringe Pouch.
Debuting in the brand’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection, the bag, which is derived from the house’s beloved Pouch design, has since been spotted on the arms of influencers, stylists and editors alike throughout the year, including multiple fashion weeks.
The piece, which shuns the logo-emblazoned aesthetic common among other It-bags, comes in an array of classic hues, as well as a bright red and turquoise. Crafted from leather, it features the classic Pouch’s gathered closure in a more relaxed finish, as well as a fringed edge.
It was notably spotted during Copenhagen Fashion Week in August 2020, toted by stylist Emili Sindlev, who paired the piece with an oversized mint shirt and bright blue mules, also by Bottega Veneta, before following with multiple sightings on the streets at Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2021.
The house also created a shearling iteration of the piece, which first featured in its fall/winter 2020/2021 collection, debuting on the runway at Milan Fashion Week in February 2020.
