You could almost taste the salty sea breeze as a stream of dusky pastels, soft suiting and surfboard stripes paraded down yesterday’s BOSS spring/summer 2019 runway.
The setting for the house’s first joint womenswear and menswear show may have been New York, but the feel was decidedly Californian. Cool and coastal, but with a metropolitan twist.
Shades of washed-out blush and icy blue mixed with shots of burgundy and tangerine, while relaxed tailoring and crisp nylon coats straddled the line between sportswear, surfwear and sartorialism. This was fashion made for strolling the boardwalk in style – parkas were rendered fluid and floaty, while knitwear was crinkled and cropped.
An A-list front row of Jamie Dornan, Emma Roberts and Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding looked on as chief brand officer Ingo Wilts’s creative vision prevailed. Perhaps like us, they were carefully compiling the spring/summer wardrobe of their dreams.
