Bella Hadid has opened up in a new interview with Glamour UK about what it was like wearing *that* dress at Cannes, and why she probably won’t be doing it again any time soon. The model turned heads in the red Alexandre Vauthier dress with the thigh-high slit on the red carpet.
She opened up to Glamour about how she’d always dreamed of wearing a red dress on the red carpet:
“I’ve always wanted to wear a red dress, it’s just been my dream since I was a little girl,” she said. “Ever since prom and freshman, it’s always been what I wanted to wear but I never could. I’m usually very simple with my red carpet looks – I tend to just wear black – so this was a big risk. I was sort of scared about it, but I’ve had so much nice feedback which was exciting.”
Even though it’s been an aspiration of hers for a while, she’s decided it won’t happen again soon.
“I might wear a variation of it, but that’s definitely the riskiest thing I’ll wear in a while. I’ll tone the next few down; you gotta keep them guessing and on their toes you know?”
While many may have been wondering how she managed to combat the breezes at Cannes, the dress had a secret weapon – an in-built silk leotard.
Bella Hadid was recently in Australia for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, and modelled in the Misha Collection show. The 19-year-old has enjoyed rising success, and has even had the opportunity to work with her sister, Gigi Hadid.
“It’s nice to be in the same industry and to be able to support each other,” she said. “It’s especially nice when we get to work with each other or at least work in the same country. Sometimes we don’t even realise we’re in the same city until we message and then we’re able to hang out after work and have a sleepover. It stops things from getting lonely.”
