A backdrop of lush greenery amongst Sydney’s Carriageworks set the perfect stage for Aqua Blu’s Resort ’22 collection, where designer Kristian Chase put on a spectacular display defined by the joyful and bold designs that have become synonymous with the favourite local label.
Under Chase’s watchful helm, Aqua Blu’s latest collection, Enchantment, was a celebration of everlasting love, timeless glamour, iridescent prints, and mesmerising silhouettes, all translated into works of wearable art—be it through the brand’s signature, punchy swimwear, effortlessly draped, breezy linens, or its show-stopping finale couture piece, which took more than 500 hours to craft, fit with embellishments of hand-sewn beadwork, lace and florals.
As always, the runway—an upbeat, energetic and infectious presentation—once again reinforced why the brand has become so favoured globally, sticking to its beloved DNA: a showcase of its masterful creations on a diverse cast of models of all ages, cultures and sizes. Graphic colours, free-flowing fabrics and a mixture of striking and plentiful shades glided down its sandy-coloured runway, with notable appearances from models Sarah Grant, Rae Rodriguez and Lauren Gabrielle.
“There is a focus on bold colours, intricate prints, beautiful silks and couture craftsmanship,” says Chase. “The silhouettes are inspired by some of the most memorable women in my life. This collection is a homage to my past, a reflection of my present and excitement for the future.”
Excitement is right, with Chase offering up the modern woman’s dream summer wardrobe. Think, expertly fitted maxi dresses featuring intricate gold and velvet detailing, to linen wraps with complementing swimwear and peekaboo prints, intermixed with designs that are thoughtfully crafted with women (of all kinds) in mind.
