Hollywood It couple George and Amal Clooney stepped out last night for the United Nations Correspondents Association Awards, at which Amal accepted the award for Global Citizen of the Year.
For the evening, the human rights lawyer wore one of her most beautiful looks to date: a blue-and-white silk gown by J. Mendel, which features a plunging sweetheart neckline and thin straps.
Amal accessorised the $8,971 dress with a royal blue box clutch, matching navy pumps and chandelier earrings. Plus, a handsome movie star husband on her arm.
During her acceptance speech, Amal Clooney paid tribute to Nadia Murad, an Iraqi Yazidi refugee who survived sexual abuse by ISIS and won the Nobel Peace Prize this year. She also praised journalists for reporting the truth and called out President Trump for labelling the press the ‘enemy.’
“The U.S. president has given such regimes a green light, and labelled the press in this country an enemy of the people,” Amal said. “And of course, two months ago, Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi walked into a consulate in Istanbul and was brutally tortured to death.”
