For any fan of Alexa Chung’s laid back, cool Brit-girl aesthetic, it will come as welcome news that the model-turned-designer has released a collection of sunglasses.
The range, which is in collaboration with Sunglass Hut, was debuted at Chung’s second ever fashion show in London this weekend, and has already proven to be a serious hit.
A selection of throwback shapes, the collaboration is a nod to the 70s, with old school styles getting a refresh with Chung’s sophisticated eye. The result: aviators get a chic update with neutral, matte frames and traditional circular shapes are made modern through boxy edges and a green glass tint. Likewise, strong optical influences shine through, proving Chung’s ability to make just about anything into a fashion moment. In other words, they are the cool girl glasses you never knew you needed.
“I’ve always gravitated towards vintage frames when it comes to putting together an outfit, and this is the same approach I took when it came to researching for design,” Chung said of the shades. “I revisited iconic moments in film and music to make a variety of styles that feel both timeless and timely. Scott Walker, Fellini, Elvis and Anna Karina to name but a few shady icons of mine, all helped shape the direction of this eyewear capsule.”
The collection is currently available online, but a limited run of just 300 pairs are available in Australia and New Zealand, so you’d better get in quick.
