It’s time to raid your grandmother’s closet—fashion has developed an unlikely obsession with the brooch. It’s been a good decade or seven since the simple brooch was the accessory of choice, but the underrated embellishment has become a favourite of both designers and the style set of late.
Becoming a staple in the accessory arsenal of it-girls in 2024, brooches continue to pop up on runways into the new year.
One of the hottest labels of the moment, Tory Burch once again reached for the accessory to complete looks on their spring/summer ‘25 runway using the pins both in a decorative fashion and to secure the sleeves of an avant garde cardigan.
Meanwhile, at Carolina Herrera’s fashion week show, golden rose pins gave monochromatic ensembles an elevated flourish, pinned to sweaters, blazers, dresses and in place of buttons.

Among the street style set, brooches have become the accessory du jour for bringing a unique flare to otherwise typical wardrobe staples.
Adorning blazers, jackets, dresses and tops, the embellishments, when strategically placed often appear as though they were part of the garment’s original design–a tact we plan to adopt to breathe new life into well-loved pieces we already own.

Over on TikTok, creators are using mismatched brooches over buttons on vests, cardigans and jackets for what they describe as a schiaparelli-esque finish.
Then, there’s a more functional approach, with brooches being used to cinch waist lines from the back or change the silhouette of a top completely.
The styling possibilities truly do appear endless, and undoubtedly chic at that, making the humble brooch a must-have to elevate your 2025 wardrobe.
