Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have shared heartbreaking news about their newborn son’s death.
The pair, who announced they were expecting twins back in October, shared a joint statement to the Manchester United star’s Instagram, writing: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.”
They revealed they have also welcomed a twin baby girl, who is giving them “strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness”.
The statement ended: “We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.
“Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
In October, the pair shared the happy announcement that they were expecting twins to the soccer star’s 428 million Instagram followers: “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins👶🏻👶🏻. Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you.
Two months later, the pair did a gender reveal via social media, which featured Ronaldo’s four children, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr, 11, twins Eva and Mateo, both four, and Alana Martina, also four.
Ronaldo and Georgina first met in 2016 while she was working as a sales associate at Gucci. They quickly became inseparable, and in 2017, they welcomed their twins via surrogate.
Several months later, Georgina gave birth to their fourth daughter, Alana.
Georgina has previously spoken about the joys of raising a family, sharing on Instagram: “Being a mother and raising the little ones in the house all this time has made me experience supreme happiness, and now with the arrival of Alana Martina we are all complete, happier if possible.”
“We are very happy and grateful to God for the health of our little Alana Martina and of course that of our other 3 little ones in the house, whom I can’t wait to hug and eat them with kisses.”
