Christopher Esber knows that less is more. A little cut out here, a little less fabric there, Esber’s charm is in his masterful tailoring, draping and placing. He is, essentially, a woman’s best friend. Ever flattering and always chic, Esber’s resort 2020 collection was no different.
Having nailed the art of languid dressing last season, Esber’s MBFWA showcase was an extension of what we love him most for: working blazers, streamlined evening dresses, and, most recently, off-duty staples. Centring his collection around the progression of the working week into holiday dreaming, Esber pulled off the journey perfectly.
We went from black and white with structure and power suits to artful cut outs, utility pockets and updated workwear staples. Then, with the weekday finished, he took us away.
Deconstructed knit skirts and tops in shades of terracotta, mango and rust were a welcome burst of colour — and canary yellow summer dresses with a hint of beige made the case for resort dressing all year around.
The models walked with purpose, sending a strong message to fans of Esber. The message? Work hard, but play even harder — and look good doing it.
