UPDATE: Chloe has solved her haircut disaster by visiting the hair wizards at Clo and Flo in London. The blogger took to her Instagram story again to show her new curtain fringe and short bob style, and it’s a huge improvement!
Not only are Chloe’s strands now even at both the front and back, her fringe blends seamlessly in with the rest of her hair. Proof that you can come back from a bad haircut!
A bad haircut is something we have all experienced in our lives at one point or another (unless you found your go-to hairdresser very early on in life, which let’s be honest is rare and you should count your blessing), which is why we can all relate to the pain beauty vlogger Chloe Morello is currently going through.
Over the weekend, Chloe shared on both her Snapchat and Instagram stories the devastatingly bad haircut she was given when she asked her hairdresser for a curtain fringe. Not only did Chloe share multiple angles of the awful cut, pointing out that it went way further back than it needed to go, and that it was shorter at the back than the front, but she also asked what all of us do after a bad cut – what am I meant to do?
Sadly Chloe isn’t alone in experiencing an awful haircut, so we went to the pros to find out what one should do to deal with an uneven cut.
Here, Creative director of Sydney salon Jonny + June, Simon Bright, shares his go-to tips for dealing with a haircut you’re less than impressed with.
Bright says “NEVER attempt to fix it yourself. That could make the matter so much worse. Calmly have a chat with the hairdresser and ask for solutions, they will more than likely be happy to make the haircut a little bit better,” he says. “Remember, a haircut usually takes a week to settle in, try styling it differently.”
At the end of the day, Bright explains if you’re not happy with the final result “maybe it’s your time to be more adventurous, and go for that cut and colour you’ve always wanted to try but never had the nerve to do. A good colour and colour placement can do a great job at hiding a bad haircut or making the hair look longer. Lightening the ends can also give the illusion of length, or a block colour can disguise over-textured hair,” Bright explains.
And hey, if all else fails, learning some nifty up-styles could help hide the bad cut until it grows out.
We know you may be scarred by Chloe Morello’s curtain fringe experience, but if you’re looking to try a fringe for the first time, here is your ultimate celebrity inspiration and what you should know before getting the chop.
