Australian radio host Hamish Blake and skincare brand owner Zoë Foster Blake have recently made the move to Sydney—keeping great company with the also recently relocated Hemsworth family. Unlike the Hemsworths, who have decided to hang on to their custom-built Byron Bay mansion for weekend visits, the Blakes have recently sold their home in the Richmond Hill precinct. Not just any home, their Grand Designs-featured, multi-million dollar home.
The former residence of the Blake family is notable not only for it’s appearance on Grand Designs—the house was created by architect David Neil—but also the lift-access rooftop with 360-degree views of the city and MCG, a stunning pool and, of course, the wine cellar.
Zoë Foster Blake spoke with Domain about the home, which is currently under offer. While it’s not known how much the current buying party has sunk into their new investment, estimates are between $5.9 million and $6.3 million, potentially more. The Blakes paid $4.25 million for the home in 2013, the highest price a Richmond home had gone for at the time. “We couldn’t believe it when we found it,” she told Domain.
“Our days at home—and we spend a lot of time at home with our kids—were filled with sunlight, swimming, cooking, surrounded by greenery and gum trees. It felt like an oasis with the very best of Richmond, Fitzroy and Melbourne right there on our doorstep.”
The couple’s current home in Sydney’s Vaucluse suburb is also pretty stunning, which they paid a cool $9 million for. When sharing the news about the move, Hamish was very supportive of his wife—as he should be!
“For a long time I have known that stealing my wife from Sydney would mean one day we’d venture there to live a while,” the radio host shared in an Instagram post from December 2020.
“Since her business is going so strong (‘booming’ I believe is the business term), her family is there, and I am keen to get a role on Bondi Rescue (as a tourist who faints from eating too many ice creams) it seemed like the time to make the move!”
“Its been on the cards for a while but, and I know this might sound a bit weird, I’m sort of glad we got to spend this last year in Melbourne while we all went through lockdown together, and experience the strength and spirit of this amazing city. I may wander north for a while, but Melbourne, you will always be home.”
How cute!
