Earlier this week, a The Simple Life reboot was seemingly confirmed after a series of Twitter blasts from the series account. The reboot was rumoured to be starring Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

It all started when the series Twitter account shared a photo of Hilton and original co-star Nicole Richie with the hashtag, ‘Simple Life 6’. The account followed up with two photos of rhinestone encrusted flip phones, one leopard print and one with a “P,” and two girl emojis of a blonde and a redhead.

Fans then jumped to conclusions, understandably. “Omg, Paris and Lindsay!?!? What does this mean?” The account then seemingly confirmed the news by replying with an ‘Shh’ emoji.

“Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. 😉”, The Simple Life account later tweeted. Hilton and Lohan famously have a running feud that dates back to their teen days.

To make things even more official, the account retweeted Lohan, who confirmed that she was recording new music for the reboot’s theme song. A tweet from the Blast read, “Linsday Lohan teases that new music is on the way,” to which Lohan replied, “Hard at work.”

In a tweet on Tuesday, Hilton clarified that the rumour was started by a fake fan account. “There is no truth to it,” she wrote. “Yes, I love that show & I was approached again to do it. But I had to say no as I have an extremely busy work schedule travelling the world running my empire.”

She concluded the post by hashtagging it #GirlBoss. With a crown emoji.

Lindsay, for her part, also appeared to deny the rumours. Her team told Page Six that the reboot is “news” to them, and sources close to her apparently told The Blast that she was never asked to join, nor would she accept an offer to team up with Paris.

The original series, which aired from 2003 to 2007, saw Paris and Nicole living the simple life.
