If you thought rumours of a royal feud had officially been extinguished, think again. Over the weekend on the Duchess of Sussex’s 38th birthday, a royal source reportedly told The Sun that Meghan doesn’t plan to invite Kate Middleton to her upcoming birthday celebrations at Frogmore Cottage. The source is quoted: “It is unlikely that the Cambridges will be invited to Meghan’s 38th birthday on Sunday.”
However, it seems the source has claimed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge didn’t make the invite list, not because of a royal feud, but rather to keep with the couple’s demands of a “low key” event. Truly, less of a party and more of a hang session with her, Prince Harry, and baby Archie.
Meghan and Kate are reportedly enjoying a “strong friendship” since the birth of Archie, with a source telling Hello Magazine that Kate “was a great source of support to Meghan in the days leading up to Archie’s birth. Despite reports of a rift, they are family and have a really lovely friendship. Their relationship has certainly evolved over time and they have become closer since Meghan’s wedding.”
The source adds, “They talk and text regularly. They have more in common, and Kate has wanted to make sure Meghan has felt welcome into the family.”
To celebrate Meghan’s special day, Prince Harry let everyone know how much he loves his wife by taking to Instagram via the couple’s shared account, @sussexroyal. The royal shared a photo of Meghan laughing from their Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand last year, writing, “Happy Birthday to my amazing wife. Thank you for joining me on this adventure!’ – Love, H.”
Kate Middleton and Prince William shared a photo of the two couples walking side-by-side with Charles during the royal family’s walk to Christmas Eve church services last year. “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today! 🎈” the post read.
In a new interview, Royal expert and commentator Omid Scobie weighed in on how he thinks the Duchess will be spending her day, saying, “Prince Harry will be back from Google Camp in Sicily, where he gave a speech about the fight against climate change, so they’ll be spending Meghan’s birthday quietly as a family. The Sussexes have been so busy this year that I can imagine her birthday will simply involve a well-deserved day of rest with a few friends — and, of course, precious moments with Archie.”
