As far as drama-filled Married At First Sight episodes go, Monday night’s was somewhat lackluster – save for the last 30 seconds.

The couples have moved in together in apartments around Sydney and there are more than a few teething issues, especially when it comes to Poppy and Luke, and Tash and Amanda.

Unsurprisingly, Poppy, 38, decides to pull the plug as she can’t be without her two-year-old twin boys for another second.

“I thought I would meet someone who would be a good dad to my kids … I didn’t realise [being away from them] would affect me so much,” she said.

“All I’ve done is cry the whole time. I’m that chick on TV that doesn’t stop crying,” she said.

But it’s her “husband”, FIFO worker Luke, 39, who you would feel the most sorry for.

“I had hope for Poppy and I,” he cried. “I wanted a happy ending more than anything else.”

Poppy isn’t the only one walking out. Bartender Tash Herz, 31, decides to move into her own apartment as a “passionate” Amanda Micallef, 34, continues to berate her for her lack of affection.

“I just want to point something out to you,” Amanda said. “Sometimes I can barely get a look in the eye from you but you embrace every opportunity to embrace [the other couples] and be affectionate. I don’t even get a stroke on the arm from you … You hold back so much.”

“I feel attacked,” Tash said. “How the hell am I meant to manifest feelings of warmth and love and affection for someone when they are being that aggressive?

Amanda and Tash go to see relationship “expert” John Aiken for a “last chance” counselling session.

Amanda tells Tash that she has her “walls up”, while Tash tells Amanda: “I am very triggered by you because you make me feel really, really attacked … You are in this heightened state.”

“I am passionate,” Amanda said.

“You are screaming,” Tash responded.

They finally smooth out their differences and live to fight another day after realising they have different “fight styles”.

But it was Adelaide company director Michael Goonan, 28, and law graduate Stacey Hampton, 25, who provided the most drama – albeit for only 30 seconds.

The pair had been getting along swimmingly since their honeymoon blow-up in Fiji when Michael went out and got very drunk and insulted his new bride.

Despite Michael and Stacey becoming the first couple to consummate their marriage and having each other’s backs during the dinner party, commitment ceremony and during the moving in process (when Michael made Stacey remove her makeup and wear pigtails down the street in broad daylight as part of intimacy week) another spanner was put in the works thanks to Michael’s boozing.

Cut to 12 hours after they were boasting about how easy the experiment was for them over drinks in Sydney.

“So last night Michael went out,” Stacey said, as she stood in her kitchen. “He comes home and is drunk and obnoxious. He’s being rude, he’s being disrespectful towards me. He said he was quite happy to leave last night and never speak to me again, so I kicked him out.

“What makes it worse is that I have been through this before on the honeymoon – the same sort of thing happened. He is done in my eyes.”

Michael has a lot of grovelling to do, and according to the preview for Tuesday, it starts with a “I’m sorry” cake.
