There are many questions we can’t help but wonder about those who put themselves through Married At First Sight: Why? Do 15 minutes of fame really mean that much to them? Have they tried Tinder?
But Mishel deciding to persist in a marriage with a man who has admitted to not being attracted to her really takes the biscuit. Why Mishel, why?
WATCH: Mishel and Steve’s final angry showdown
Mishel has been banging on for the past two episodes that she is “done” and that her “bags are already packed” after Steve sat her down during a romantic day out at the beach and heartlessly told her that he didn’t fancy her. Not one little bit.
She even crassly threatened to remove his one remaining testicle (he suffered from testicular cancer eight years ago) as she fumed about being left in the dark about his feelings for six whole weeks.
On Sunday’s commitment ceremony, MAFS fans were ready to wave Mishel off as she rode merrily into the sunset leaving Steve for dust … but the Brisbane teacher, 48, is clearly a glutton for punishment.
She tried to claim that she wasn’t upset about his admission … but his “betrayal”. Sure Mishel.
Expert Mel Schilling tried to help the British barber shop owner, 51, out.
“Steve’s intention was to protect you,” Mel said.
Steve added: “I adore this woman, there is nothing I wouldn’t do for her.” (Except fancy her.)
Unsurprisingly, he voted to “leave”.
After yet another commercial break, it was Mishel’s turn to vote.
“I didn’t want to leave like this,” she said. “I would have liked to leave as friends.”
As everyone was getting ready for her to say “leave”, she added that she spoke to her teenage daughter, Eva, about her predicament and she convinced Mishel to stay in the experiment.
“I have to listen to Eva, she is far more intelligent than me,” Mishel said.
When Mishel and Steve returned to the couch, Mishel asked him: “Do you hate me?”
“No,” he replied through gritted teeth.
We’ll give it one more week!
While everyone else is open about their relationships, Aleks, 26, and Ivan, 30, refuse to divulge if they have done the deed: S-E-X.
“Our sex life is no one’s business but ours,” Ivan said.
“I have not been raised to talk about intimacy, it’s sacred,” Aleks said, as Dr Trisha Stratford pushed for more details.
“We are not after sexual therapy, I won’t comment on it openly, it’s no one’s business,” Ivan hit back.
“It is our business, we are in the experiment,” Trish replied.
“It’s not an adult film,” Ivan said.
As the experts requested more information about their hanky-panky, Aleks threatened to quit the experiment because it makes her “so uncomfortable”. (Has she not watched the show before?)
Elsewhere, Jon and Connie, Cathy and Josh, KC and Drew are all on the rocks. Stacey and Michael are having trust issues, and Seb and Lizzie seem quite content.
