Brittany Snow and her husband Tyler Stanaland have officially decided to separate after two years of marriage. And sources are claiming that Stanaland’s time on Selling The OC may have had something to do with their split.
On September 14, Snow took to her Instagram to confirm the rumours that she and Stanaland’s marriage had been on the rocks, revealing that they have chosen to go their separate ways.
“After time and consideration, Tyler and I have made the difficult decision to separate,” she wrote, under a photo of herself with the realtor. “This decision was made with love and mutual respect for one another. We have realised we need to take some time and make sure we are each living our most fulfilling and authentic lives.”
“We started this journey as best friends and our relationship will continue to be a priority not only for us but for our dog Charlie. We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter.”
As for Stanaland, who made his reality TV debut as a real estate agent on Netflix’s Selling Sunset spinoff, Selling The OC, he shared the same photo and statement with his 120K followers.
According to People, the Pitch Perfect actress and Stanaland had apparently been navigating troubles in their marriage, after it was revealed that one of the realtor’s Selling The OC co-stars attempted to kiss him off camera.
A source said that the incident wouldn’t have taken place if he weren’t on the show, and that turning their personal lives into a storyline “broke them”.
“They had issues before, but this is the final straw,” the source exclusively told the outlet, adding that Snow “has been trying to find the best time to file for divorce” while keeping their privacy.
“Brittany never wanted Tyler on the show but he was adamant,” the source claimed. “He wanted to make a name for himself on his own terms.”
According to a different source, they also claimed that the couple were “fully over” because “all of the girls [on Selling The OC] are obsessed with him”.
And while fans may think that the drama on the show is all fun and games, the source claimed that Stanaland has “been trying to be really respectful but it’s taken a toll on his marriage 100 percent”.
The former professional surfer has previously alleged that one of his fellow realtors, Kayla Cardona, tried to plant a kiss on him on two separate occasions.
Noting the times when appearing on the Reality Life with Kate Casey podcast, Stanaland explained that neither of the two incidents took place while filming.
“One night, Kayla did try and kiss me. And then it happened another night as well. And so on the show, out of respect for her, I am just kind of trying to minimise it and brush past it so that there isn’t drama,” he shared on the podcast.
He continued, “We can all focus on what we should be doing. But that was something where I had to kind of set some hard lines and some boundaries and reconsider the social environment a bit.”
“Nothing happened. It was just … something that, you know, you don’t do to somebody who is married.”
No matter what the reason is behind Snow and Stanaland’s split, here’s hoping the two find their happiness in the next chapter of their lives.
