Ashley Graham has become known for her advocacy of body positivity, but even the 32-year-old supermodel isn’t immune to insecurities. Since announcing her preganancy, Ashley has been sharing photos and videos of her ever-changing body with her followers, but is now opening up about why she first posted her stretch marks, saying she was feeling “isolated” and struggling to get used to her “new body.”
In a preview for the next episode of her new digital series, Fearless on Ellen DeGeneres’ channel EllenTube, Graham told her interviewee Taylor Hoit, “The reason I posted that photo was because I’d just announced I was pregnant and I thought then that I was going to feel good and I didn’t, I just felt terrible.”
The model and designer then started crying as she continued, “That morning, actually – I’m sorry,” she said as she choked up. “I really thought to myself, “Get it together, Ashley. There’s other women out there that are going through the same thing as you. Why don’t you have a dialogue with them?”
“This is a new body I’m walking into, why don’t I just put myself out there with this new body? I felt so isolated and so alone, so I’ve had to come into this new world of body confidence,” she continued.
Ashley and her husband Justin Ervin announced they are expecting their first child in August and just celebrated their baby shower last week. Earlier this month, they announced that they’re having a boy.
