Carrie Bickmore has announced her separation from long-term partner, Chris Walker.
The presenter confirmed the news via an Instagram story posted on Wednesday morning.
“Hi there,” she wrote. It’s with immense sadness that Chris and I have decided to separate. While this is a tough time, our focus is to concentrate on parenting, loving and supporting our three amazing children, Ollie, Evie and Addie with everything we’ve got. They are doing great. We won’t be making any further comment at this stage.”
The couple, who have been together for 11 years, met on the set of The Project in 2012. Their relationship came two years after Bickmore tragically lost her first husband, Greg Lange, to brain cancer in 2010 after a 10 year battle.
Walker became a stepfather to Bickmore and Lange’s son, Ollie, and the couple welcomed their first daughter, Evie, three years later. In 2018, their second daughter, Adelaide, was born.
The news of the split comes just months after The Project host announced that she was leaving the show after a decade to spend more time with her family.
“After 13 years at The Project, I have made the tough decision to finish up hosting the show at the end of the year. It‘s been the hardest decision of my professional life to make this call, but it’s time for a new challenge and my next chapter,” she said.
Walker publicly celebrated Bickmore’s decision with a supportive Instagram post.
“She was no doubt, and always will be, the captain of that show. But, she is also the captain of our little family and she lights up our lives even more than she lights up a studio. What an unbelievable ride it’s been for you babe. We all love you and can’t wait for what’s next.”
