After a six year hiatus, pop star Britney Spears will be returning to her roots as a performer by releasing an upcoming single with the legendary Elton John.
Despite Spears claiming that she may never work again since being released from her thirteen year-long anguishing conservatorship, it’s reported that the 40-year-old is set to release her duet with Elton John as soon as next month.
Fans of both Elton and Britney will be pleased to know that rather than recording a new original song, the pop princess and Rocket Man will be debuting their rendition of John’s 1972 hit single ‘Tiny Dancer’.
Of course, with Britney renowned for her love of dance and performance, we couldn’t think of a better single for her to reinvigorate her music career with.
Neither Britney or Elton are yet to comment on the news, however, given the hype, we’re sure this will be one song we won’t be able to avoid listening to.
“This was Elton’s idea, and Britney is a huge fan. They have recorded a remix of ‘Tiny Dancer’ as a full duet — and it is incredible,” a source revealed to Page Six.
According to reports, Britney was spotted at a Beverly Hills based studio for what was dubbed as a “super-secret recording session”.
“They’ve already played it for people at their record label, and everybody is freaking out. It is so good,” the source adds. “They are saying this is going to be the song of the summer.”
“Britney is officially back. She’s back to work, and she’s super excited,” they add.
It’s been a mammoth few years for the pop sensation. In November 2021, Britney’s allegedly abusive conservatorship was terminated, allowing her freedom to record the music she wants.
Britney placed her award-winning career on hold to focus on terminating the conservatorship. The Grammy-award winner previously released her ninth studio album in 2016.
Earlier this month in a now-deleted post, Britney shared an updated and almost melancholy acoustic version of her single ‘…Baby One More Time’.
“I haven’t shared my voice in an extremely long time … maybe too long. I have asked for what I wanted for 14 years … a different version of ‘Baby’,” the singer wrote.
Britney also recently married her fiancée of several years, Sam Asghari, in a celebrity studded wedding that included Paris Hilton, Madonna and Drew Barrymore as guests.
While we’re not sure if this is a coincident or a strategic play from Britney, the star and Sam we’re recently spotted hanging out with British actor Taron Egerton, who as we know played Elton John in the critically Rocketman biopic.
During the pandemic, Elton John released his collaborative album ‘The Lockdown’, which featured duets with Stevie Nicks and Miley Cyrus.
His collaboration with Dua Lipa, ‘Cold Heart’, catapulted to the number one spot across numerous charts and became John’s first number one single in 16 years.
Given the hype around both John’s and Spears’ collaboration, it’s safe to say that this upcoming song could enjoy the same treatment.
As Spears’ herself would say, baby one more time.
