We love a cast reunion, and when it comes to Bridgerton (both old and new), the 2022 Met Gala delivered. After all, this year’s theme of ‘Gilded Glamour’ was practically made for the Bridgerton wardrobe, so it makes sense the cast from this year’s buzziest show would all attend to show us how it’s done.
Regé-Jean Page (Duke Simon of Hastings), Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton), Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington) and Simone Ashley (season two newcomer Kate Sharma) all attended this year’s gala. (See all the red carpet moments from the 2022 Met Gala here.)
This year’s theme of Gilded Glamour refers to a very specific era in American history. Coined by Mark Twain, it refers to the opulent excess and sudden social change of 1870 to 1890, with Met Gala attendees asked to wear white tie – the most formal of the dress codes.
Nicola Coughlan opted for a majorly on-theme black-and-pink Moschino dress, with black opera gloves (a staple of this year’s carpet) and black corsetry.
Phoebe Dynevor went for a lacy black Louis Vuitton dress, opting for a vampy take on the 2022 theme.
Regé-Jean Page donned a blue velvet jacket with a silver broach and no bow tie. It’s not strictly following the white tie dress code (which requires men to wear a white shirt, waistcoat and bowtie, as well as a jacket or coat with tails that reach the back of the knee), but creative interpretations of the Met Gala theme are tradition at this point.
And finally Simone Ashley, who played the primary love interest in season two, went for a black-and-gold cropped bustier and maxi skirt, courtesy of Moschino. Shut the red carpet down, we have peaked.
Simone paired her outfit with slicked back hair, a chocker necklace and drop earrings, as well as jacket that acted as a stand in for gloves. It’s another on-point look for the reigning style queen of 2022 (so far).
Although the cast didn’t have a red carpet reunion, we can only hope that mid-Met Gala selfies are coming out way.
Regé-Jean Page devastated Bridgerton fans last year when he confirmed he would not be returning to the show. Conversely, Simone Ashley devastated Sex Education fans when she declared herself “a Bridgerton girl now” and announced her end to the series.
Season 3 of the acclaimed Regency show is expected to hit our screens sometime in 2023, and we, for one, can’t wait.
