It’s been almost five years since Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, and while in that time, the pair have remained silent about their personal issues, it looks as if their custody battle has taken a not-so-pleasant turn.
The officiant of their wedding in August 2014, Judge John Ouderkirk, has reportedly chosen to rule in favour of altering an existing custody order that Pitt has requested, meaning that he now has been granted joint custody of their children.
“Brad is extremely happy, he’s over the moon,” a source close to Pit told E! News. “All he wanted to do was see his kids. For him, it’s the most positive results.”
“Brad has always been seeking the opportunity to have more time with his children and prioritised their well-being. The judge ruled in Brad’s favour and significantly modified the customary order to significantly increase his time with the kids.”
The ruling came after a testimony was heard from a selection of people who had spent time with their children, as well as professional evaluators and therapists.
A second insider close to Pitt’s situation spoke with NBC News, claiming that the ruling is a “tentative decision.” But apparently, Jolie is far from pleased with the outcome and plans to take their legal battle even further.
“Joint custody is not the issue that Angelina objects to,” the source explained. “There were other issues of concern, but the court proceedings are closed and sealed.” Pitt and Jolie shared six children together—three of which are now teenagers—including Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox.
As per new court documents secured by the Associated Press, Jolie has apparently criticised the judge who is involved in the case with Pitt.
Jolie has since requested a court filing, and claims that apparently “Judge Ouderkirk denied Ms. Jolie a fair trial, improperly excluding her evidence relevant to the children’s health, safety, and welfare, evidence critical to making her case.”
Following the news of said filing, Pitt’s legal team revealed to the AP, “Ouderkirk has conducted an extensive proceeding over the past six months in a thorough, fair manner and reached a tentative ruling and order after hearing from experts and percipient witnesses.”
No matter who is right or wrong in the situation, it looks like the pair will continue to battle in court for a while.
