Remember last year when you couldn’t walk outside without seeing someone wearing The Row’s strappy sandals? Fast-forward 12 months and it looks like the demand for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s paired back creation has moved onto a new design: heels which were released this month and already have the fashion industry at fever pitch scrambling to buy a pair before they’re sold out.
The shoes in question are created by Bottega Veneta, the Italian designer label put firmly back on the map upon securing the former Director of Ready-to-Wear at Céline, Daniel Lee, as its new creative director.
The chain-embellished mesh pumps, which will set you back a cool $1240, come in both black and nude with most stockists already sold out of both versions and restocks expected in late July.
But it’s not just this one pair of heels that fashion lovers everywhere are obsessing over, it’s Lee’s entire collection.
In fact, his designs are proving so popular that a fan account – @newbottega – has already amassed over 10,000 followers since its inception four months ago.
With celebrities, such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, almost never without their Bottega Veneta pouch handbags (Rosie owns the bag in three different colourways) and Instagram influencers scrambling to post their mesh heels before the next person, we’d say Bottega Veneta – complete with mesh heels and pouch bags – is officially 2019’s designer brand of the year.
