Whitney Peak Is The New Face Of Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle

The Gossip Girl star is named Chanel’s new face of Coco Mademoiselle.

We love her as Zoya Lott in the Gossip Girl revival series, and her lead role in Hocus Pocus 2 by Anne Fletcher in 2022 – where she starred alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Better Midler – had us certain that the stunning 20-year-old was set for great things. Chanel has now sealed Peak’s star status by announcing the young actress as its face of Coco Mademoiselle fragrance.

Not that she was expecting such kudos from the fashion house.

“Honestly, I never dreamed I’d get the attention of such a reputable house, let alone the pleasure of working with and representing them,” says Peak. “I’m looking forward to showing how versatile and timeless Chanel is.”

This is not the Canadian actress’s first role with Chanel. Peak started as the House’s brand ambassador for the US market, then moved on to be the muse of the 22 Handbag campaign. This week the A-lister has been announced as the new face of the Coco Mademoiselle.

The pairing is a good one. Peak, says a representative from Chanel, has a joy, spirit, and energy which is contagious. These attributes align perfectly with the personality of the original Coco Mademoiselle’s – a young woman who moves towards her destiny to become who she truly is and wants to be.

Chanel In-House Perfumer-Creator, Olivier Polge, describes the fragrance as “an interesting combination that is simply hard to describe”. Being hard to categorise could also be said of Peak.

“I love to be unpredictable,” says Peak. “In my work I am all about structure, but outside of that, even how I choose to dress day to day, I like the unexpected. Which is why I love Coco Mademoiselle. “

Being ok with the unexpected has taken Peak to lofty places. Born and raised in Uganda by her mother and a French orphan, the Canadian actress has beaten the odds to follow her dreams to become a star very much on the rise.

With nearly half a million followers on Instagram, and three movies set to release in 2023, Peak’s influence right now is clear – and, say those in the know at Chanel, her trajectory has parallels of another self-made icon: Gabrielle Chanel.

“Remember, [Gabrielle Chanel] came up in a time when women didn’t really have any freedom,” says Peak. “And yet she continued to persevere, to work on her craft, to create things. Coco Chanel is that girl. She is unconventional.”

The new Coco Mademoiselle campaign staring Whitney Peak will be unveiled in March 2023.
